Can someone tell me what these kids could possibly know except what they are hearing from their parents? They haven't lived long enough or experienced enough to discuss issues likes this.

    Is that a serious question?

Youth are very informed, much more knowledgeable, have access to many more informational tools than current adults did growing up.

Experience does not necessarily equate to time or age.
These youth have been keeping daily journals

Here's another variation of the term experience:
personal involvement in or observation of events as they occur

All you need to do is look to what the parents are telling them.  That absolutely sets the tone.

Children have not the experience to make judgments for themselves, they are sponges and soak up what goes on around them. I can bet you that the students in this article are getting most of their info and their "thoughts" from what their parents have said around the house.

My 7 year old son came home the other day and all his classmates told him that he should vote Obama because it will make history.

My son then asked me if I was going to vote for Obama and I said no.  He told me that he would get beat up if I didn't.

They get was from their parents.

Wake Up Parents and watch what you say around your children - no matter what color you are.  Don't spread the hatred, okay?  Keep it to yourself.

Hatred and racism is not a genetic trait ...it is an acquired trait, passed on to you by people around you.

It's good to see them focusing on the kids, but Obama is African and White not AFrican-American, not White.  African/White..His Father is African from Africa.  I don't understand why so many African-Americans are so quick to claim someone African-American and so many White-Americans are so quick to label him as African-American..He's African and White.*L*  Just because he has brown skin does that make him AFrican-American..some Mexicans, Cubans, Jamaicans, Cambodians have brown skin does that make them "Black"

              • Aren't white students seeing the same history? Why is it always black or white?
              • All American students and everyone else is seeing the same history!

Even if Obama does win he won't be the first black president; he'll be the first mullato president since his mom is WHITE. I guess that's close enough for these kids to get all excited about it...I am stumped as to why people would vote for someone without regard to their experience but only look at their race...
